Early Alerts

One of the ways UNH can proactively support students is to identify those  students who are struggling early in the semester. The mWS platform provides the structure for an early alert system and a way for faculty, advisors, and others in the students' Success Team to collaborate around their students. The early alert Progress Report in Week 5 is a prime opportunity to send notifications to students who have missed class, assignments, or scored poorly on early quizzes/exams. Once alerted, a message goes to the student and their advisor who may reach out  to the student and may also direct them to campus resources. We expect that this  early intervention will prevent an academic action at the end of the semester.

Continuous Progress Reporting is available all semester long so that faculty can go into mWS at any point (preferably before week 8 when an intervention is most impactful) and alert a student who is having difficulty.  Find myWildcat Success in the search bar when you're logged in to my.usnh.edu, click "view all results" and click the star to the right of myWildcat Success to save it to your shortcuts. Now, one click will get you to your homepage.

Coordinated Care Network for Students

Many students find 'their people’ and ‘their places’ on campus early on, and so the first ones to know about struggles, especially non-academic ones, may not be the student’s academic advisor but another caring adult on campus. We will build a support network on mWS so that these relationships can be leveraged to provide students with the appropriate help and resources no matter the reason for their struggle. In the past two years we have onboarded thirteen offices to which you may now refer a student!  Go to "Issue an Alert/Referral" on your homepage and you can refer a student to resources on campus such as the Center for Academic Resources (CFAR), Athletics Academic Support (for ATHLETES ONLY), the Basic Needs Office, Military and Veterans Services, Connors Writing Center,  McNair Scholars, the Mathematics Center,  COLA CaPS, Hamel Center Undergraduate Research,  Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS),  Office of National Fellowships. Pre-Professional Health Advising,  or UNH Library!  Please speak with the student you're referring before you make the referral!
